Ukrainian-Turkish reconstruction task force created in Istanbul

At the forum on Ukraine's restoration in Istanbul, a joint Ukrainian-Turkish Reconstruction Task Force was created, which will focus on implementing projects in the field of road infrastructure, water transport and aviation, the Ministry of Communities, Territories and Infrastructure Development of Ukraine reported on Facebook on Wednesday.

The priority areas of cooperation of the task force will be projects for the restoration of road infrastructure and the construction of temporary bridges and overpasses on key routes, restoration and development of water transport infrastructure, protection of critical infrastructure and housing restoration, as well as cooperation in the field of aviation, the statement said.

"Aviation. We are ready to cooperate in the event of the air traffic restoration. Over the past two years, the ministry has focused on retaining highly qualified aviation personnel, maintaining the aviation infrastructure in proper condition and deregulating the industry. All this will allow the service to be launched as quickly as possible, as soon as the security situation allows," Deputy Prime Minister for Reconstruction - Minister of Communities, Territories and Infrastructure Development Oleksandr Kubrakov said on Facebook.

According to him, proposals and design solutions for the water area and seaports of Ukraine are being discussed in the field of water transport.

"We see the willingness of companies to invest in the development of maritime logistics and infrastructure," the Deputy Prime Minister noted.

He also pointed out that Turkish government and business entities have deep technical expertise and experience in rebuilding infrastructure after the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq. In addition, they have experience working with international financial institutions and organizations, which will help in the implementation of projects to protect critical infrastructure and restore housing.

The Deputy Prime Minister noted that Turkish business has extensive experience in the field of road infrastructure. Its representatives took part in the construction of the Zaporizhia and Kremenchuk bridges, establishing themselves as reliable partners.

The current agreements are a continuation of cooperation that began at a summit meeting in the presence of the Presidents of Ukraine and Turkey, Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Recep Tayyip Erdogan, in the middle of last year. Then a memorandum of understanding was signed to restore the infrastructure, the Ministry of Restoration recalled.
