Ukraine to pay over $3 bln on external commercial, guaranteed commitments in Q4 2018

The sum of payments on external commercial (not taking into account banks) and guaranteed commitments of the country is over $3 billion to be paid in October-December 2018, the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) has reported on its website.

The central bank said that $2.529 billion to be transferred to repay the principal amount of the debt and $483 million – interest.

Then, in January-March 2019, under these obligations the country will have to pay $1.368 billion, including $1.042 billion of the principal amount, after which in the second through fourth quarters of 2019 the amount of payments will decrease to less than $1 billion.

In the fourth quarter of 2018, the country is to pay $568 million as direct debt (including $466 million in repayment of the principal of the debt), in the first quarter of 2019 - $1.162 billion ($527 million), in the second quarter - $1.655 billion ($1.491 billion), in the third quarter - $1.889 billion ($1.249 billion) and the fourth quarter - $298 million ($163 million).

The total amount of payments on Ukraine's gross external debt in the fourth quarter of 2018 was estimated at $4.809 billion (including $3.973 billion in repayment of the principal of the debt), in the first quarter of 2019 - $3.688 billion ($ 2.528 billion), in the second - $3.345 billion ($2.912 billion) in the third - $3.528 billion ($2.445 billion) and the fourth quarter - $1.697 billion ($1.18 billion).
