Audit reveals problems in introduction of information system for daily balancing by Ukrtransgaz

The technical audit has unveiled problems during the introduction of the information system for daily balancing on the gas market by public joint-stock company Ukrtransgaz, Chief Commercial Director of Naftogaz Ukrainy Yuriy Vitrenko has said.

"The independent technical audit by an international company revealed that the introduction of the information system in Ukrtransgaz does not meet the requirements to the systems of this type and brings unjustified risks. Top managers of Ukrtransgaz are working on ways to change the situation," he wrote on his Facebook page.

Vitrenko said that the critical problem for the introduction of the daily balancing is the fact that the National Commission for Energy, Housing and Utilities Services Regulation (NCER) approves the rules that differ from European ones.

"The regulator establishes rules that differ from European ones and which are almost impossible to make automated… The Naftogaz Group is losing large money, as the rules of using the GTS [the gas transport system] do not meet European ones," he said.

Ukrtransgaz, 100% owned by Naftogaz Ukrainy, operates a system of trunk gas pipelines and 12 underground gas storage facilities of the country.
