Ukrgazvydobuvannia seeks to boost gas production by 4.5% in 2018

Public joint-stock company Ukrgazvydobuvannia plans to increase natural gas production by 4.5% or 0.69 billion cubic meters (bcm) in 2018 compared with 2017, to 15.94 bcm, Ukrgazvydobuvannia Head Oleh Prokhorenko has said.

"The plan for 2018 is 15.94 bcm," he said at a press conference in Kyiv on Wednesday.

Prokhorenko again criticized the Poltava Regional Council for blocking the issue of licenses to the company, which hinders the implementation of earlier announced plans to increase gas production and stop using imported gas by Ukraine.

"We do not refuse our task. We will look for new ways and catch up. For this we started cooperation with foreign technology companies to speed up production. We carefully develop the topic of dense sandstone deposits, which will allow us to use the existing license database for discovery of new deposits, but still it will not allow replacing the resources that we need for the implementation of the 20/20 program," he said.

In turn, First Deputy Board Chairman and Executive Director of Ukrgazvydobuvannia Oleksandr Romaniuk said that the company is also making plans to double natural gas production in Western Ukraine in the next seven years.
