Recovering UAH 172 bln fine from Gazprom won't impact on European gas consumers

Compulsory enforcement of a Ukrainian court's decision to recover UAH 172 billion from Russia's gas giant OAO Gazprom as a fine charged by the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine will not tell on European gas consumers, Ukrainian Justice Minister Pavlo Petrenko has said at a press conference in Kyiv on Tuesday, June 20.
"Transit gas shipments are handled under contracts [that have been concluded] with European countries. And these contracts provide for respective obligations, and we, as a very responsible partner for the EU countries, first of all will not do those things that could do harm to our neighbors' security," the minister assured.
