Housing, utilities subsidies up 3.6 times in Jan-Oct 2016

The total amount of subsidies paid to families for housing and utility services in Ukraine amounted to UAH 3.214 billion in January-October 2016, which is UAH 2.309 billion, or 3.6 times up year-over-year, the State Statistics Service has reported.

According to the report, the figure for January-August 2015 does not include the temporarily occupied territory of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and Sevastopol, and part of the Anti-Terrorist Operation zone. Data on Donetsk and Luhansk region may be adjusted.

According to the statistics service, in January-October 2016 subsidies were allocated to 5.638 million families. This is 97.9% of the total number of families that applied to receive subsidies and this is 46.3% up year-over-year.

The average size of a grant subsidizing housing payments and utilities services for one family in October 2016 increased by 1.8 times year-over-year, to UAH 566.80.

The highest average size of a grant subsidizing housing payments and utilities services in October 2016 was recorded in Ternopil and Vinnytsia regions (UAH 1,203 and UAH 1,018 respectively), and the lowest in Odesa (UAH 220.30), Luhansk (UAH 285.90) and Dnipropetrovsk (UAH 310.10) regions.

In 2015, the total amount of subsidies paid to families for housing and utility services in Ukraine amounted to UAH 2.346 billion, which is UAH 1.997 billion, or 6.7 times, up year-over-year.
