Poroshenko, Lagarde agree on IMF mission's arrival in Ukraine in autumn

Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko and Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) Christine Lagarde have agreed that the next visit of an IMF mission to Ukraine will be in autumn, the presidential press service reported late on Wednesday.

"Petro Poroshenko and Christine Lagarde have agreed on a new IMF mission's arrival in Ukraine in autumn this year," the press service said following the talks on the sidelines of United Nations General Assembly meetings in New York on Wednesday.

Poroshenko thanked Lagarde for the IMF Executive Board's decision in favor of further cooperation with Ukraine and for the disbursement of additional financial assistance.

The parties also discussed the pace of reform in Ukraine. In particular, they touched on the implementation of reform in the financial and banking sector.

Gerry Rice, the Director of Communications at the IMF, in turn announced after the meeting between Poroshenko and Lagarde that "they discussed recent economic developments and the Managing Director strongly encouraged continued implementation of the authorities' economic reform program supported by the IMF."
