The winner in the selection of a city to host the Eurovision 2017 international song contest will be actually determined by the country's top leaders, namely President Petro Poroshenko and Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman, Director General of the National Television Company of Ukraine Zurab Alasania has stated.

"In my opinion, the question what city will host Eurovision is political. The matter is between President Poroshenko and Prime Minister Groysman. Only these two persons know what is going on," he said in exclusive comments to Interfax -Ukraine.

Alasania added the decision on the winner of the contest should be declared by the beginning of next week.

"Early next week I have to be in Berlin to meet with the supervisory board of the contest and report them on the decision of Ukraine. There is not even a hint on the winner so far and that's strange," he said.

As reported, Ukraine's Ministry of Culture stated the organizing committee for holding Eurovision 2017 would meet on August 31, while the host city would be announced in the near future.
