Housing, utilities subsidies up 6.6 times in Jan-June 2016

The total amount of subsidies paid to families for housing and utility services in Ukraine amounted to UAH 2.479 billion in January-June 2016, which is UAH 2.103 billion, or 6.6 times up year-over-year, the State Statistics Service has reported.

According to the report, the figure for January-November 2015 does not include the temporarily occupied territory of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and Sevastopol, and part of the Anti-Terrorist Operation zone. Data on Donetsk and Luhansk region may be adjusted.

According to the statistics service, in January-June 2016 subsidies were allocated to 3.094 million families. This is 95.4% of the total number of families that applied to receive subsidies and this is 2.1 times up year-over-year.

The average size of a grant subsidizing housing payments and utilities services for one family in June 2016 rose by 6% year-over-year, to UAH 217.60.

The largest subsidies in June 2016 were recorded in Chernivtsi and Ternopil regions (UAH 1,009 and UAH 638 respectively), the lowest – in Vinnytsia and Volyn regions (UAH 112 and UAH 113.70).

In 2015, the total amount of subsidies paid to families for housing and utility services in Ukraine amounted to UAH 2.346 billion, which is UAH 1.997 billion, or 6.7 times, up year-over-year.
