Government to pay UAH 500 mln debt to Ukravtodor's contractors using funds from placing bonds

Ukraine's Cabinet of Ministers has sent UAH 513.6 million to pay a debt to contractors of the State Automobile Road Agency of Ukraine (Ukravtodor) for completed road works. The funds were used from ending stocks on the agency's account received from the placement of government-secured bonds.

Presenting the document at a cabinet meeting on Wednesday, Ukrainian Infrastructure Minister Volodymyr Omelyan said that this is an important resolution that restores trust of companies operating on the Ukrainian road construction market.

He said that UAH 10 billion was sent to the special fund of the national budget after placing government-secured bonds by Ukravtodor issued in 2012-2013. The funds were sent to pay for reconstruction and repair of roads of general use preliminarily approved by the government.

The State Treasury agencies have not paid under Ukravtodor's payment instructions for completed work. As of April 15, 2016, the treasury had ending stocks of UAH 5.485 billion, including UAH 5.39 billion on Ukravtodor's accounts and the rest of the funds – on accounts of automobile road services. Works worth UAH 1.213 billion have not yet been paid.
