Gas stocks in Ukraine's UGS since start of heating season 24.4% down

Ukraine since the beginning of the 2015/2016 heating season has reduced natural gas reserves in its underground gas storage facilities (UGS) by 24.4%, or by 4.160 billion cubic meters.

According to PJSC Ukrtransgaz, if on October 29, 2015 gas stocks amounted to 17.064 billion cubic meters of gas, then as of January 9, 2016 gas reserves amounted to 12.904 billion cubic meters, which is 20.6% more than on January 9, 2015.

At the same time, frosty weather influenced the volume of gas taking: over the nine days of January this year some 1.091 billion cubic meters was taken. In December 2015 gas taking was 2.224 billion cubic meters, in November 835 million cubic meters.

According to the company, on January 9, 2016 the mode of gas taking from UGS was 94.2 million cubic meters per day, and on January 9, 2015 some 88.77 million cubic meters per day.

According to live data from European gas transportation systems operators, gas imports from Slovakia on January 9 was 12.35 million cubic meters, from Hungary 2.37 million cubic meters, from Poland 550,000 cubic meters. Imports from Russia were suspended from November 26.
