Ukrnafta lodges claim against Russia with intl arbitration court

The Ukrainian oil and gas company Ukrnafta has lodged a claim against Russia with the Permanent Court of Arbitration in the Hague to defend its investments.

The information was published on the court's website.

Claims against Russia have also been filed with the international arbitration court by Kirovohrad Nafta, Crimea Petrol, Pirsan, Trade-Trust, Elefteria, VKF Satek, Rustel, Rubenor, Stemy Group, Novel-Estae and Stabil.

All of them referred to the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (UNCITRAL) regulations and the Russia-Ukraine intergovernmental agreement on the protection of investments dated November 27, 1998.

It was reported earlier that Ihor Kolomoisky filed a claim against Russia with the Hague court to protect his investment in the Crimean Belbek airport.

The same court heard the Yukos vs. Russia case. The proceeding lasted for nine years.
