Yatseniuk plans to create from three to seven sector holdings, mulling general holding

The Ukrainian government plans to unite state-owned assets in several holdings from the point of view of the sectors and it is analyzing the appropriateness of creating the general holding that will unite all these holdings, Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatseniuk said at a meeting of the National Reforms Council on Monday.

"We practice the interest of the sector approach where each sector will have the relevant profile holding," the government's press service reported, citing Yatseniuk.

"The main question is if we create the single state holding above all holdings that will manage all from three to seven state holdings," the prime minister said.

He said that the issue of the structure and the number of holdings is being discussed.

He said that the State Property Fund was introduced to draw up a strategy for forming state holdings to remove the management of state assets from the ministry's control.

Yatseniuk said that the decision is welcomed by the Ukrainian government and Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko.
