Zaporizhia locomotive plant gets orders for repairs, production, returns to full working week

PJSC Zaporizhia electric locomotive repair plant has received orders from Ukrzaliznytsia for 2015 and returned to a five-day working week instead of three days.

"Thanks to the orders received, the plant was loaded, which, in turn, will allow for increased contributions to the budgets of all levels and to pay wages to workers in full for a five-day working week," reads a report issued by Ukrzaliznytsia.

According to its data, due to a lack of orders for rolling stock repairs and spares manufacturing in January and February the company worked only eight days, in March - 14 days. During this time, the plant repaired six electric locomotives and produced few goods.

"In April the plant signed agreements with Pivdenna and Prydniprovska Railways for the repair and manufacture of spare parts and equipment worth UAH 49.8 million. It is planned to sign contracts for UAH 19.2 million with Odesa and Pivdenno-Zakhidna Railways.

In addition, contracts were signed for UAH 77.8 million for the repair of 11 electric locomotives for Prydniprovska, Pivdenna, and Odesa Railways. The plant also plans to sign an agreement with Pivdenno-Zakhidna Railways for UAH 44.5 million," reads the report.

According to Infrastructure Minister of Ukraine Andriy Pyvovarsky, due to loading the plant will increase the amount of taxes paid and improve the material condition of more than 2,000 employees.
