South Korea interested in investing in Ukraine's infrastructure
The business society of the Republic of Korea is interested in investing in Ukraine' infrastructure.
The Infrastructure Ministry of Ukraine’s press service has reported that Ambassador of South Korea to Ukraine Sul Kyung-hoon said this at a meeting with Infrastructure Minister Andriy Pyvovarsky on January 22.
He said that there could be cooperation in the development of the LNG terminal, the subway in Dnipropetrovsk, grain terminals at seaports, joint production of high-speed trains, etc.
Kyung-hoon also expressed support for the territorial integrity of Ukraine, its desire to be a united and independent state, and to become a member of the European family. He said that South Korea hopes, as all Ukrainians hope, that the situation in the eastern regions will be settled as soon as possible.
Pyvovarsky, in turn, said that according to expert forecasts, Ukraine will double grain exports in three years, and port, railway and road infrastructure should be developed to ensure exports.
He said that due to events in Ukraine around 20% of the state economy has been lost, and the government lays great expectations on international aid.
Today, the Infrastructure Ministry is considering various mechanisms for attracting investment in the transport sector. Using public private partnership initiatives it is planned to develop the road network (construction of the concession roads), ports, and after the reformation of Ukrzaliznytsia it will be possible to invest in rolling stock, which has experienced a deterioration of 90%.
