Ukraine sees 28.5% decline in steel output in Dec, being out of top ten in global rating

Ukraine in December 2014 saw a 28.5% decline in steel output year-over-year, to 1.903 million tonnes, being the 11th in the rating compiled by the World Steel Association (Worldsteel) of the 65 main steel producing nations.

A rise in steel production in December 2014 was recorded in the half of the countries of the top ten, apart from Japan, South Korea, Germany, Turkey and Brazil.

The top ten steelmakers as of the end of December 2014 was the following: China (68.09 million tonnes, 1.5% up), Japan (8.999 million tonnes, 3.7% down), the United States (7.383 million, 3.7% up), India (7.071 million tonnes, 2.2% up), Russia (5.949 million tonnes, 2.6% up), South Korea (5.766 million tonnes, 1.6% down), Germany (3.259 million tonnes, a decline of 5.8%), Turkey (2.715 million tonnes, 6.3% down), Brazil (2.628 million tonnes, 1% down), and Taiwan (2.17 million tonnes, 17.9% up).

Ukraine is 11th (1.903 million tonnes, 28.5% down).

In general, in December this year 65 countries produced 133.712 million tonnes of steel, which is actually at the level of December 2013.
