Energy Minister Prodan to meet with Sefcovic and Oettinger in Brussels

Ukrainian Energy and Coal Industry Minister Yuriy Prodan will participate in Brussels on Wednesday in the next round of trilateral talks on gas supplies involving Russian Energy Minister Alexander Novak and EU Energy Commissioner Gunther Oettinger, Ukraine's Mission to the EU has reported.

Before the trilateral talks, Prodan will hold a meeting with European Commission Vice-President-designate for Energy Union Maros Sefcovic.

After that Prodan will have a bilateral meeting with Oettinger, and it will be followed by meeting in the trilateral format.

As reported, Ukraine, Russia and the EU have been in talks on gas supplies since May this year. Ukraine disputes the issue of the gas price, whereas Russia demands that Ukraine repay the debt for the gas it consumed in November-December 2013 and in March-June 2014.

Russia halted gas supplies to Ukraine on June 16.

During the last few rounds of talks the sides generally agreed on the so-called "winter package" that envisages the supply of gas to Ukraine in the next six months.
