Ukraine has received the right to supply eggs, egg products, birds and poultry to the European Union, the State Veterinary and Biosecurity Service of Ukraine has said.

The state service reported that Ukraine was put on the list of poultry product importers to the EU.

"On December 4, at a meeting of the Standing Committee on the Food Chain and Animal Health (SCOFCAH) of the European Commission's Directorate General for Health and Consumers, a technical vote on the draft instruction on the inclusion of Ukraine on the list of the third countries that have the right to import poultry products to the EU was taken," reads the statement.

At the same time, the statement contains no information on the exact date when Ukraine will be able to start exporting poultry products to the EU. Relevant amendments have to be made to the regulations of the European Commission, and this may take some two to three months.

In addition, the Ukrainian side has to submit to the European Commission its salmonella control program, which has to be in line with the EU's requirements.

The Mission of Ukraine to the EU told an Interfax-Ukraine reporter that the decision was approved as a result of numerous checks and long-lasting consideration of the issue in the EU.

As reported, Ukraine has been trying to receive the right to export poultry products to the EU for a long time.
