President of FC Dynamo Kyiv Ihor Surkis has said he is not planning to sell defender Yevhen Khacheridi to Shakhtar Donetsk.

"If I briefly comment on this news, then, perhaps, I'll answer that Khacheridi is not being sold," he told the football.ua Web site on Tuesday.

At the same time, Surkis confirmed there had been an offer from Shakhtar to buy the player.

He said that Khacheridi said during a private conversation three weeks ago that he wanted to move "to a strong Western European club."

In addition, Surkis said that now he wants to create a team that will please the club's fans.

"We will gradually act step by step. And Khacheridi is one of the key players in this team. Here's my answer," he said.

As reported, Shakhtar Donetsk made a formal offer to Dynamo Kyiv on the transfer of Ukraine defender Yevhen Khacheridi for EUR12 million.

"The club made a formal offer to FC Dynamo Kyiv on the acquisition of Yevhen Khacheridi. The club offered EUR 12 million for the player. As far as I know, Yevhen is ready to move to FC Shakhtar," the Donetsk club's director general, Serhiy Palkin, wrote on his Facebook page on Tuesday.

The 26-year-old Khacheridi moved to Dynamo from Volyn Lutsk in January 2008. He has played for Ukraine's national football team since September 2009.
