UEFA orders Dynamo Kyiv to play two empty-stadium matches due to racist conduct of supporters

The UEFA Control and Disciplinary Body has ordered FC Dynamo Kyiv to play their next two UEFA competition matches at home behind closed doors.

"The first game behind closed doors applies to the next UEFA club competition match for which the club would qualify, while the sanction for the second fixture is deferred for a probationary period of three years," the club's press service reported.

The sanction relates to incidents of racist behavior by the Ukrainian club's supporters at the Champions League Group A match against Paris Saint-Germain FC in Kyiv on November 21, 2012, as well as at the Europa League round of 32 first leg against FC Girondins de Bordeaux in Kyiv on February 14, 2013.

As part of the procedure envisaged by UEFA's disciplinary rules, Dynamo Kyiv will lodged an appeal against this decision in order to mitigate the sanctions.

"Fully sharing UEFA's intransigence in combating all forms of racism, at the same time, we believe that the imposed punishment is too harsh for the club and its loyal fans," the club said.
