Poland is working to be able to burn Polish coal without paying for emissions; and electricity generated by Polish power plants for European money should be sent via an energy bridge to Ukraine, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk has said.

"The issue of energy is critical. We are working on this now in Poland, and our experts are discussing how we can directly help Ukraine's electricity supply before the onset of winter," Tusk said at a joint press conference with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in Poland.

He said "at the end of the day, we know very well what Putin's goal is. "The Polish prime minister stressed that all energy enterprises in Ukraine are under threat of attack from Russia "for obvious reasons."

"We are currently working on being able to burn Polish coal, of which we currently have a lot, and in such a way that we do not have to pay for burning this coal, that is, for emissions; and send the electricity generated by Polish power plants from Polish coal for European money through the existing energy bridge to Ukraine," Tusk said.

According to him, in general, this "of course will not solve the problem with electricity, but it can at least partially help Ukraine survive this difficult winter."

"And we will encourage all our partners to search for creative ideas," head of the Polish government said.
