Zelenskyy: Ten people die from Russian missile strike in Chernihiv, number of victims may increase
Ten people were killed and 20 injured as a result of a missile attack by Russian occupiers on the city of Chernihiv on Wednesday morning, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.
"A rescue operation is underway after a Russian missile strike. People are under the rubble. As of now, it is known about 20 injured and 10 dead. My condolences to the family and friends. Unfortunately, the death toll may increase," Zelenskyy wrote on Telegram.
He stressed that "this would not have happened if Ukraine had received enough air defense systems and if the determination of the world in countering Russian terror had also been sufficient."
"Terrorists are able to ruin lives only when at first they manage to intimidate those who are able to stop the terror and protect lives. Determination matters. Support is of great importance. Ukrainian determination is enough. We need sufficient determination from our partners and sufficient support that will reflect it," Zelenskyy wrote.
Earlier, head of Chernihiv Regional Military Administration, Vyacheslav Chaus, reported nine dead and more than 20 injured in Chernihiv as a result of a Russian missile strike. Many multi-storey residential buildings, civil infrastructure were damaged in the city, dozens of cars were destroyed.
