The French authorities, as part of a new military aid package, will provide Ukraine with hundreds of old-style armored vehicles that remain operational, as well as Aster missiles, French Armed Forces Minister Sebastien Lecornu said, writes Le Monde.

"To hold such a large front line, the Ukrainian army needs, for example, our armored front-line vehicles (VAB): this is absolutely key for the mobility of troops... This old equipment, which is still working, will be able to directly benefit Ukraine in significant quantities. We can talk about hundreds of armored personnel carriers in 2024 and early 2025," the minister explained.

It is noted that VAB armored personnel carriers, which are more than 40 years old, are being replaced in the French army with new generation Griffon armored vehicles.

In addition, taking into account Kyiv's needs to strengthen air defense capabilities, Paris "will unlock a new batch of Aster 30 missiles." These missiles are used for the SAMP/T MAMBA systems - analogues of the American Patriot.

"We are also developing remotely controlled munitions in a very short time frame to deliver them to the Ukrainians this summer," the French minister added.
