European Solidarity demands Stefanchuk to return work of parliament to its legal course – statement
The European Solidarity faction demands that Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Ruslan Stefanchuk return the work of parliament in accordance with the law and regulations.
"The European Solidarity faction publicly appeals to the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada demanding the strict implementation of its constitutional powers and calls for the immediate return of the work of the highest legislative body to the requirements of the law and regulations," the European Solidarity faction said in the statement published on its website on Wednesday.
Among the demands are an immediate return to normal work – at least two plenary weeks a month, an hour of questions for the government, the opening of parliament to journalists, an end to blocking inter-parliamentary activities, and adequate formation of the agenda for plenary sessions.
"We demand that the next week, as was previously planned and announced to the deputies, be plenary. That on March 20-22 we consider the bill banning the Moscow church, the creation of the commision on the condition of fortifications, bills on the business climate...," it is noted in the statement.
The document says the leadership of the Verkhovna Rada justifies its lack of professionalism and inaction by the conditions of martial law.
The statement recalls that last week the plenary session, at which important bills were to be considered, was cancelled, and the reason for the cancellation of plenary sessions in the coming week is business trips of the parliament leadership.
"Parliament will meet for one day in March to vote on several regulations and ratifications," the statement said.
