The National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office (SAPO) sent a case to court on charges of causing more than UAH 176 million of damage to PJSC Centerenergo by former officials of the generating company and United Energy LLC.

According to department reports, we are talking about the former head of the directorate and the former head of the department of Centrenergo and the head of United Energy, accused of abuse of official position and forgery.

As the investigation established, in 2020 the generating company entered into an agreement to sell electricity to the auction winner, United Energy, which carried out only a partial selection of the contracted resource and had to pay a fine.

To avoid this, additional agreements were signed retroactively, in which the provisions on the permitted deviation limits of 5% of the contractual volume of electricity were excluded. As a result of these actions, Centerenergo did not receive UAH 176.8 million, which United Energy had to pay as a fine.

The above persons were notified of the suspicion in May 2023, and the investigation was completed in October. The materials on their accomplices were separated into separate proceedings.

The accused face a penalty of imprisonment for a term of three to six years with deprivation of the right to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities for a period of up to three years, as well as a fine of 500 to 1,000 tax-free minimum incomes of citizens.
