Zelenskyy: 31,000 Ukrainian soldiers killed in war with Russia
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy said 31,000 Ukrainian soldiers died in the Russian war against Ukraine, and 180,000 died on the Russian side.
"Every person is a large loss for us. Some 31,000 Ukrainians died, military personnel died in this war. Neither 300,000, nor 150,000, whatever Putin is lying about," he said at a press conference on Sunday.
At the same time, according to Zelenskyy, there are 180,000 dead on the Russian side.
"And I know that up to 500,000 [from the Russians] along with the wounded," he said.
The head of state, however, did not disclose the number of wounded military personnel on the Ukrainian side.
"I won't say how many wounded. Since Russia will know how many people left the battlefield. I just won't say about it. There are missing in action [from our side]. I won't play with these numbers, I don't want to. Why? Since the last exchange showed that we will be inaccurate with you due to the fact that we returned several people. They were on the list of missing persons, and two guys returned alive," the president said.
In addition, according to Zelenskyy, tens of thousands of civilians died in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine.
"We know about tens of thousands. I don't know how many of them died, were killed, tortured, tortured, how many were deported. There are, you know, there are some lists, but all of them... We don't know exactly how many of our civilians they killed. We don't know. We'll find out when we're done with him and this Russia," he said.
