First F-16 aircraft to be delivered to Ukraine before summer – Frederiksen

Danish Prime Minister Matte Frederiksen hopes that the first F-16 aircraft will be delivered to Ukraine before the summer.

Following the talks with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in Lviv on Friday, she said pilot training is very fast and very good; and the only reason why Denmark officials are still delaying the transfer of the F-16 to Ukraine is simply a technical reason. Frederiksen said they need serious infrastructure to support these fighters, and they understand that training for the F-16 is much longer and more extensive than for any other weapon systems or aircraft.

The Danish Prime Minister said they are working very hard in this aspect, and expressed her hope that they will be able to see the F-16 in Ukrainian airspace in the near future, even before the summer. According to her, given all the efforts that they are making, and the excellent cooperation between them and the allies, they will still be ready to provide this by the summer.

According to Zelenskyy, "we are receiving the first batch of F-16s this year. I won't tell you specifically."

"For this number of aircraft, the corresponding pilots and crews will be ready, and technical teams, in addition to the crews, infrastructure things must also be prepared," he said.
