Russian special services create network of Syrsky’s fake accounts on social networks – Countering Disinformation Centre

Russian special services have created a network of fake accounts of commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) Oleksandr Syrsky and are spreading fakes about the situation at the front and about the commander-in-chief, the Center for Countering Disinformation has reported.

"The Center for Countering Disinformation, together with the cyber department of the SBU, discovered a large-scale disinformation campaign by the Russian Federation to discredit Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrsky. It turned out that the enemy is spreading fakes about the situation at the front and about the Commander-in-Chief for the purpose of information and psychological impact on military personnel," the Centre said on the Telegram channel on Tuesday.

As reported, “Facebook, Instagram, X and Telegram social media accounts created by Russian special services are reportedly promoting destructive messages of the Russian Federation through a network of fake accounts on social networks.”

The Center for Countering Disinformation emphasizes that the information impact units of the special services of the Russian Federation have become significantly more active recently both in Ukraine and in NATO member countries. In particular, "the French Defense Ministry accused the Russian Federation of purposefully spreading false information about France in the context of the war unleashed by Moscow against Ukraine." The Center also notes that "the editorial staff of The Washington Post has gained access to documents on the Kremlin's organization of disinformation campaigns around the world."

"Get information from official sources, for example, the official page (https://t.me/osirskiy) of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine," the message posted by the Center for Countering Disinformation reads.
