US Senate starts discussing process of submitting amendments to bill including support for Ukraine

The U.S. Senate must make a decision before 19:00 local time (02:00 Kyiv time) regarding the submission of amendments to the bill, including support for Ukraine, Ambassador of Ukraine to the U.S. Oksana Markarova said.

"The Senate has already started its discussions, for now this is a procedure for discussing how amendments will be submitted, how we will move forward, and until 19:00 here [in Washington], it will already be night at home [02.00 at night Kyiv time], a decision will have to be made. If the senators come to an agreement on how they will submit amendments and how to move forward, then it will immediately be known how quickly we will move on to the consideration of the substance," Markarova said on a national telethon on Friday evening.

She said the embassy is actively working to ensure that the bill "becomes law as soon as possible."

The ambassador positively assessed the visit to Kyiv of a bipartisan delegation of the U.S. Congress and added that this is "an important visit that will be of great importance not only for the discussions that will take place today in Kyiv, but also when the delegation returns back."

As reported, on February 8, a $95.34 billion bill, including aid to Ukraine, Israel and Taiwan, received procedural support in the Senate.
