Ukraine' Border Guard Service has no official confirmation from Poland of possible new border blockade

The State Border Guard Service of Ukraine has not received from Poland any official confirmation of the information about an alleged repeated blockade of the border by Polish farmers, Spokesperson for the State Border Guard Service Andriy Demchenko said.

"We also saw this information in open sources. However, we have not received any official confirmation from our colleagues – Polish border guards – that this [the blockade of the border] might happen," he said on the national telethon on Friday.

Earlier, the Solidarity Independent Farmers' Trade Union announced on its website a new strike at all Poland-Ukraine border crossing points which is due to start at 10:00 on February 9 and will last until March 10.

"Brussels' position on the last day of January 2024 is unacceptable for our entire agricultural community. Additionally, the passivity of the Polish authorities and declarations of cooperation with the European Commission and announcements to respect all decisions of the European Commission regarding the import of agricultural products and foodstuffs from Ukraine leave us with no other choice but to announce a general strike," it said.
