Kyiv responds Fico's statement: No compromise on territorial integrity of Ukraine, Slovakia, any other country

There can be no compromise on territorial integrity, efforts should be united to bring Ukraine's victory closer, Spokesperson for the Foreign Ministry of Ukraine Oleh Nikolenko has said in response to a recent statement by Prime Minister of Slovakia Robert Fico.

"Prime Minister of Slovakia Robert Fico: 'There has to be some kind of compromise. What do they [Ukraine] expect, that the Russians will leave Crimea, Donbas and Luhansk? That's unrealistic.' – There can be no compromise on territorial integrity. Neither for Ukraine, nor for Slovakia or any other country," the diplomat said on Facebook on Monday.

He also emphasized that Ukraine and its partners are applying efforts to force Russian out of Crimea, Donbas and Luhansk and prevent them from moving further, including to Košice, Prešov and other Slovak regions.

"Let us be frank: without security in Ukraine, there will be no security either in Slovakia or in Europe in general. We must unite efforts to bring Ukraine's victory closer," Nikolenko said.

As reported, the Slovak Prime Minister said on January 20 that the only way to end Russia's war against Ukraine is to give part of its territory to the occupiers. He also confirmed his opposition to Ukraine's membership in NATO.
