Russia preparing to launch another wave of disinformation about reasons for suspension of prisoner exchanges – Coordination HQ

In the near future, the Russian side is preparing to launch another wave of disinformation, in which Ukraine will be accused of allegedly inflating the requirements for the prisoner exchange formula, the Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War.

"In the near future, another wave of disinformation will be launched on the propaganda channels of the aggressor country about the reasons for the suspension of prisoner exchanges. The goal of the Russian special services is to destabilize the situation within Ukrainian society and sow distrust in government agencies that organize prisoner exchanges," according to the statement published in Telegram channel on Sunday, December 3.

At the same time, the Coordination Headquarters notes that since the summer of 2023, authorized representatives of Russia have been systematically complicating the exchange process, despite the efforts of the Ukrainian side to continue the humanitarian mission of returning prisoners of war.

"In order to justify its inaction, the Russian side is preparing accusations against Ukraine. In particular, the Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War is preparing to be accused of inflating demands on the exchange formula and the intention to return military personnel of all units without exception, in particular those for which the Russian government has a special propaganda rage," the Coordination Headquarters said.

It is also noted that on the Ukrainian side in the negotiation process, nothing has changed since they managed to return up to and over 300 servicemen to Ukraine every month.

"Attempts by the opposite side to justify themselves rather than continue the humanitarian mission of exchanging prisoners indicate that they are little concerned about the fate of the large number of Russian prisoners of war who were captured on foreign soil, especially during the latest 'meat assaults,' as well as their families," the Coordination Headquarters said.

It is noted that Russia has not yet provided unimpeded access for the missions of the International Committee of the Red Cross to Ukrainian prisoners of war. In addition, the aggressor country has still not been able to establish effective, unified work and communication on the treatment of prisoners of war.
