EU's plan to provide EUR 20 bln military assistance to Ukraine raises questions among some EU countries – media

The European Union’s plan to allocate up to EUR20 billion in military aid to Ukraine is meeting resistance from some EU countries and, due to debate, may not be preserved in its proposed form, Reuters reports, citing sources in diplomatic circles.

High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell in July this year proposed that the bloc create a fund of up to EUR5 billion annually over four years as part of the West's broader security commitment to support Ukraine in its fight against Russian aggression.

According to an unnamed senior EU diplomat, Germany has “many questions and rightly so,” because we are talking about big money. However, it is noted that the discussion is ongoing.
