Defense Ministry announces introduction of simplified procedure for admission to operation of UAVs, electronic warfare equipment

The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine has announced the introduction of a simplified procedure for the admission to operation of unmanned systems and electronic warfare equipment - they will be admitted to the troops on the basis of an act of joint departmental testing or based on the results of studying the tactical and technical characteristics declared by the manufacturer.

“From now on, a simplified procedure for admitting unmanned systems and electronic warfare equipment to operation is in effect. They will be admitted to the troops on the basis of an act of joint departmental testing or based on the results of studying the tactical and technical characteristics declared by the manufacturer,” says a message on the Ministry of Defense posted on its website on Saturday.

Reportedly, all government customers are also allowed to purchase UAVs and electronic warfare equipment if they have conducted joint departmental tests with the manufacturers. “The government supported the resolution developed by the Ministry of Defense,” the Ministry of Defense said.

In addition, it is reported that “the General Staff will approve the technical requirements for types of UAVs, indicating the tactical and technical characteristics that such products must meet in order to be allowed into operation. The General Staff is also entrusted with the responsibility to approve the technical requirements for electronic warfare equipment and their current need for each electronic warfare type. The relevant technical requirements will also be transmitted to the Ministry of Defense."

As noted in the message, the timing and order for the procedures were not previously determined. And therefore, permission to operate and supply weapons to military units lasted for months. “Such a delay is unacceptable in a full-scale war, which is why the Ministry of Defense initiated these changes,” the message says.
