Sanctioned persons do not have any control or influence on lifecell – company's CEO

Co-owner of the Russian Alfa Group Mikhail Fridman owns 7.49% of the shares of Turkcell (Turkey) through the IMTIS Holdings fund, which in turn owns 19.8% in the Turkcell structure, CEO of Lifecell LLC (the lifecell brand), a subsidiary of the Turkish mobile phone operator, Ismet Yazici said in an exclusive interview with Interfax-Ukraine.

"The sanctioned persons indirectly, through several other companies, have a small number of shares in Turkcell - Mikhail Fridman, in fact, indirectly owns part of 7.49% through the IMTIS Holdings fund, which has a 19.8% stake in the Turkcell structure. Thus, the sanctioned persons do not have no control or influence on Turkcell, much less lifecell," Yazici said.

He emphasized that since its founding in Ukraine in 2005, lifecell has not paid dividends. "If you look at the history in Ukraine, starting from 2005, when our company was founded, we have never paid dividends, we only became profitable in 2020, and all the money earned in Ukraine was invested for the benefit of our subscribers - in expansion and improving our network. That is, no one has ever received our money - all of it was invested in the development of the Ukrainian economy," the CEO of lifecell said.

The company has not yet received a court decision to seize shares owned by sanctioned persons, Yazici clarified.

Earlier it was reported that the Shevchenkivsky District Court of Kyiv reduced the package of seized shares of PrJSC Kyivstar from 99.994654% to 47.85%, and the seized share of Lifecell LLC - from 100% to 19.8% as part of interim measures in the case opened at the end of September against Alfa Group co-owner Mikhail Fridman.
