Denmark, in cooperation with partner countries, will purchase 45 tanks for transfer to the Ukrainian Defense Forces some 30 Leopard 1 tanks and 15 T-72 tanks, Danish Defense Minister Troels Lund Poulsen said, according to the Danish daily Politiken.
"Currently, another 45 tanks are being purchased, which will be donated to Ukraine... The new tank donation includes another 30 Leopard 1 tanks, as well as 15 T-72 tanks. They are being purchased in cooperation with other countries," the head of the Danish Ministry of Defense said.
"This is cooperation with other countries that have access to the tanks they have. If I do not express this in words, it is because we still need to settle formal issues," the head of the Danish Ministry of Defense, who arrived at the Ramstein base (Germany) to participate in the meeting of Ukraine Defense Contact Group.
As noted in the statement, Denmark previously announced in cooperation with Germany and the Netherlands the purchase of at least 100 Leopard 1 tanks for the defense of Ukraine. In early September, the first 10 of them arrived in Ukraine after a months-long delay.
