Array of crimes against national security of prosecutor's office, SBU officers raises questions for leaders – Zelensky

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky believes that the crimes against the foundations of national security committed since the beginning of Russia's large-scale invasion raise questions for leaders.

"As of today, some 651 criminal proceedings have been registered regarding high treason and collaboration activities of employees of the prosecutor's office, pretrial investigation agencies, and other law enforcement agencies. In 198 criminal proceedings, the relevant persons were notified of suspicion. In particular, over 60 officers of the prosecutor's office and the SBU remained in the occupied territory and are working against our state," he said in a video statement on Sunday evening, July 17.

According to Zelensky, "such an array of crimes against the foundations of the state's national security and ties that have been recorded between employees of the law enforcement agencies of Ukraine and the special services of Russia raise very serious questions for the relevant leaders. Each of these questions will receive an answer. Today I made a decision to remove the Prosecutor General from office and to dismiss the head of the State Security Service of Ukraine."
