Some 240 children killed, more than 436 injured since start of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine - PGO

The Prosecutor General’s Office (PGO) informs about the death of 240 children in Ukraine as a result of the armed aggression of the Russian Federation, and the number of wounded is more than 436.

"As of the morning of May 26, 2022, more than 676 children were injured in Ukraine as a result of the full-scale armed aggression of the Russian Federation. According to the official information of juvenile prosecutors, 240 children were killed and more than 436 injured," the report says.

At the same time, it is noted that these figures are not final, since work is underway to establish them in the places of active hostilities, in the temporarily occupied and liberated territories.

In general, the most affected children are in Donetsk region – 151, Kyiv – 116, Kharkiv – 105, Chernihiv – 68, Luhansk – 50, Kherson – 49, Mykolaiv – 45, Zaporizhia – 28, Sumy – 17, in Kyiv city – 16, and Zhytomyr – 15.

In addition, during the fixation of criminal offenses, it became known that two children were killed as a result of enemy shelling of civilian cars in Mykolaiv district of Mykolaiv region.

It also became known that a 16-year-old girl was injured during the shelling of Mariupol. And on May 24, as a result of shelling by Russian troops, in the village of Krasnohorivka of Ocheretynska merged territorial community of Donetsk region, a 6-year-old girl was seriously injured with amputation of the lower limb. Also on May 24, a 9-year-old child was seriously injured due to the shelling of Balakliya by the occupiers of Kharkiv region.

The PGO reports that 1,883 educational institutions have been damaged due to the bombing and shelling of Ukrainian cities and villages by the armed forces of the Russian Federation. At the same time, 178 of them are completely destroyed.
