Poroshenko on decision of U.S .Senate on Lend-Lease: this is new countdown in rebuffing aggressor
Fifth president of Ukraine (2014-2019), leader of the European Solidarity party Petro Poroshenko welcomes the decision of the U.S. Senate to agree on a bill on lend-lease for Ukraine, the European Solidarity website reported on Thursday.
" I have never doubted Washington's leadership in supporting Ukraine's struggle. The very fact that the US Senate has approved a Lend-Lease bill for Ukraine is not only inspiring, but it also marks a new stage in repelling the Russian aggressor," Poroshenko wrote on Facebook.
Earlier, the politician proposed to the allies a plan to force Russian President Vladimir Putin to peace, which, in particular, provides for the Lend-Lease program.
"At presenting my Five Major Steps Plan, I believed that there were no impossible solutions. The more international support for Ukraine, the faster our common victory will be," the Eurosolidarity leader said.
According to the report, Poroshenko's plan provides for the introduction of a Lend-Lease program for Ukraine; oil embargo and other sanctions against the Russian Federation; providing aircraft and air defense systems to protect the airspace over Ukraine; development of a recovery plan for Ukraine similar to the Marshall Plan, as well as the acceleration of Ukraine's membership in the EU.
