Mykolaiv regional head opens hotline for Russian soldiers who 'want to stay alive'

For Russian servicemen who did not shoot at peaceful Ukrainians and do not want to do this, but cannot return because of the likelihood facing a barrage fire from their colleagues, a special "hot line" will be opened, Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration head Vitaliy Kim has said.

"We will give Russian soldiers a chance. We know that they are on the border of Kherson and Mykolaiv regions, talking with our people. What is the problem with the Russians? They do not want to attack. They believe that they were deceived, they said they thought they were sent to military exercises… But they can't go back, because they said those Russian soldiers in Kherson region would shoot them when they retreated," Kim said in a video message on Thursday.

He noted that the units of the Russian army "are stationed in villages and scattered locations.

"I will go upstairs now. We will agree on such a thing as a 'green corridor' for the Russians, for those who have not yet shot and committed crimes against the civilian population. Those who wish to live. I will organize a 'hot line' with instructions where call how to come in order to stay alive, and not go to jail. I agree on this," Kim said.

He clarified that tomorrow he will publish the phone number of the "hot line" for Russian soldiers who did not shoot at civilians.

At the same time, he added that Russian artillerymen and military personnel of the missile forces will not be able to use the services of this "hot line."

"After Mariupol, you guys have no options. You either run or be buried in the ground," he said.
