Some 63% of Ukrainians support the idea of breaking ties between the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (Moscow Patriarchate) with the Russian Orthodox Church (ROC), according to the results of a study conducted by the Rating Sociological Group on March 8-9.

Only 10% do not support this idea. Another 18% answered that they did not care, 9% found it difficult to answer.

At the same time, among the parishioners of the UOC (MP), more than half (52%) also support the termination of ties with the ROC. 24% say they don't care, and only 13% of them are against a breakup. There are fewer supporters of the gap among non-believers and atheists (for 50%, against 39%).

Support for severing ties between the UOC (MP) and the ROC is strongest in western regions (76%), in central regions (70%) and in southern regions (52%) of the country. In eastern regions, only 41% support severing ties, with 31% against.

During the study, 1,200 respondents over 18 years of age were interviewed in all regions, except for the temporarily Russia-occupied territories of Crimea and Donbas, using the CATI method (Computer Assisted Telephone Interviews). The error of the representativeness of the study with a confidence probability of 0.95 does not exceed 2.8%.
