Razumkov believes budget financing of parties overcoming 2% barrier justified if it is used for party building

Head of the Servant of the People party Dmytro Razumkov believes that the budget financing of those parties that overcame a 2% barrier in the elections to the Verkhovna Rada is justified if it is used for party building.

"I think that budget financing, on the one hand, is necessary, while on the other hand, it is necessary to understand what it is spent on. If it is used for party building, this is one thing. And when, as it was in the former convocation of the Verkhovna Rada, at the end of the year, just because it is necessary to "burn" this money, it was used for advertising, television, their own companies in order to "launder," then we definitely don't need such a format," Razumkov said in an exclusive interview with Interfax-Ukraine.

As reported, five parties (with 95.01% of electronic protocols processed), including the Servant of the People (43.13%), Opposition Platform-For Life (13.06%), Batkivschyna (8.18%), European Solidarity (8.12%), and Holos (5.84%) passed the 5% barrier in the elections to the parliament held on July 21.

The Radical Party gains 4.01%, Strength and Honor some 3.8%, the Opposition Bloc gets 3.06%, the Ukrainian Strategy of Groysman party gets 2.36%, the Party of Sharij some 2.24%, Svoboda some 2.16% of the vote.

Some 22 parties participated in the elections, the rest scored less than 2%.
