Muslim community of Ukraine integral part of Ukrainian society resisting Russia's aggression with entire nation — Poroshenko

President Petro Poroshenko of Ukraine has sent his greetings to the participants of the Sixth Assembly of Muslims of Ukraine, saying that the Muslim community has been actively involved in our country's political and cultural life and has made great efforts to resist the Russian aggression and liberate Crimea and the temporarily occupied territories in the Donetsk and Luhansk regions.

"Your meetings have always been a strong platform for an international and interconfessional dialogue and for determining strategic benchmarks for the future," a statement published on the presidential website on November 23 morning says.

The president voiced the belief that Muslims in Ukraine will continue their course toward unity and concord in society.

"The Muslim community of Ukraine has been an integral part of Ukrainian society. It has been actively involved in our country's political and cultural life, demonstrated patriotism, and together with the entire nation made great efforts to resist the Russian aggression and liberate Crimea and the temporarily occupied territories in the Donetsk and Luhansk regions," Poroshenko said.

The president thanked the Muslims for their active civil stance and voiced the belief that "together we are an invincible force that can secure the prosperity of Ukraine among European nations."

"I herewith wish all the organizers, participants, and guests of the Assembly to work fruitfully, stay healthy, be optimistic, and hope for peace," the statement reads.

The Sixth Assembly of Muslims of Ukraine is taking place in Kyiv on November 23. Some 4,000 people are expected to attend the event. The assembly takes place every five years.
