Police complete all investigation steps in Handziuk case, hand it over to SBU – Interior ministry
Ukraine's National Police have completed all necessary investigatory steps in the case involving the assault on former acting administrator of the executive committee of Kherson City Council and advisor to the Kherson mayor Kateryna Handziuk and passed the case over to Ukraine's SBU Security Service, Ukraine's Interior Ministry has said.
"Within the limits of authority, the National Police of Ukraine carried out all the necessary investigative and search actions in the framework of criminal proceedings opened on the fact of the murder of Kateryna Handziuk. In this regard, today, on November 5, the General Prosecutor’s Office made a decision to change the jurisdiction of the said criminal proceedings for the Main Investigation Department of the SBU," a statement released by the Liaison Department of Ukraine's Interior Ministry on Monday said.
The ministry said the step will provide for combining the proceedings and conducting a pretrial investigation from the time of planning until the actual completion of the crime.
"The investigation on establishing who commissioned the crime, initiated by the PGO, is being conducted by the SBU," the ministry said.
