NABU at final stage of investigation into case on approval of Rotterdam+ formula - Sytnyk

The National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) has received an economic response about the groundlessness of using the Rotterdam+ formula, another examination will still be carried out, on the basis of which a final decision will be made, director of the bureau Artem Sytnyk has said.

"As for this case ... we've recently received an economic report from specialists that Rotterdam+ was indeed unreasonably applied. The amount of illegally recovered, funds actually received as a result of the unjustified use of this formula was established. This amount stands at UAH 15 billion," Sytnyk said at a meeting of the parliamentary committee on corruption prevention and counteraction.

"To make a final decision on the case, an expert examination is needed. Now the issue is being resolved together with the prosecutor on conducting an examination, and after receiving the results of the examination, there will be the final decision," he said.

Sytnyk stressed an examination is necessary in a case where there is a specific amount of damage.

According to him, there are a number of international legal instructions in these proceedings.

"The work has been done. In fact, we are now at the final stage before the final decision is made," he said.
