Group of children from Donbas arrives in Croatia for recreation

A hundred children from Donbas have arrived in Croatia for rest and recreation, and the Croatian government will compensate for living expenses, Bloc of Petro Poroshenko MP Mariya Ionova has said.

"After a very long trip to Croatia, a hundred of our children arrived for recreation to the coast of the Adriatic Sea. These are children from the conflict zone in eastern Ukraine from the category of orphans (due to Russian aggression), deprived of parental care, as well as those whose parents perform military duty on the frontline," she wrote on her Facebook page.

According to her, agreements on such a project were reached in May during joint working visits to Croatia by Ukraine's Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration Ivanna Klympush-Tsintsadze, representatives of the parliamentary committee on European integration and First Deputy Parliament Speaker Iryna Gerashchenko.

"Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic [...] responded with pleasure to the joint initiative of the Ukrainian side to render assistance in the rest of the kids," Ionova said.

She said that the Croatian government had assumed the costs of living, food and entertainment, while the Ukrainian side quickly resolved "all financial, technical and bureaucratic issues related to the trip."
