Savchenko announces indefinite hunger strike after arrest extended
According to the decision of Kyiv's Shevchenkivsky district court, Nadiia Savchenko's preventive measure in the form of arrest was extended for two months.
After considering a number of motions for challenges and hearing the positions of the parties, Judge Volodymyr Buhel ruled to extend the arrest of Savchenko. The announcement of the decision was accompanied by protests and cries of her supporters.
Savchenko also expressed outrage in connection with this decision of the court, saying that the court did not allow lawyers to properly implement her protection. "I announce the indefinite hunger strike. I did not see such lawlessness even in the Russian court," she stressed.
After the decision was made, Savchenko said she did not want to leave the court until she receives the text of the decision, and called the police to report the crime.
She also said that she refuses any medical examinations by the medical staff of the SBU detention facility and the penitentiary service.
