Ukrainian state to survive regardless of maniacal desires of imperial revanchists - Turchynov on Putin's statement

Regardless of the threats voiced today by Russian President Vladimir Putin, the Ukrainian state will prevail and he Ukrainian military will respond to any threats adequately, Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Oleksandr Turchynov has said.

During a hotline a Russian national called Putin from the occupied Donbas, voicing "concerns that the Ukrainian army might go on the offensive during the World Cup," while the Russian president said that such actions could lead to "grave consequences for the Ukrainian statehood as such," the press service of the NSDC said on Thursday.

"The Ukrainian statehood is based on courage, patriotism and faith of millions of free Ukrainians who are able to "protect it and preserve freedom, democracy and independence for their children. This is a fundamental difference between our statehood and that of the Russian state, which can exist only in totalitarian conditions, when persecutors, gendarmes, security operatives and KGB agents squeeze them from sprawling with bars and barbed wire," the NSDC press service quoted Turchynov as saying.

He stressed that the Russian "statehood" lies on the bones of millions of tortured and innocent lives.

"Regardless of the groans of distressed Russian mercenaries and the threats of the Russian president, the Ukrainian military will respond to any threats adequately, and the Ukrainian state does and will exist, regardless of the maniacal desires of the imperial revanchists," Turchynov said.
