Roman Bezsmertny plans to run for president

Former Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister Roman Bezsmertny has announced his intention to run for the presidency.

"Yes, I'm going to stand for the presidency! For 25 years in politics, I'm tired of bringing cartridges to those who do not know how to fire. There are decisions that I need to make, and there are decisions that we need to make all together... To this end, today I had a frank conversation with journalists, experts, and like-minded people. We talked at the meeting about what kind of Ukraine we want to see. We talked about the future," Bezsmertny wrote on his Facebook page.

Bezsmertny criticized the current government and spoke about his own vision of the country's development. His main tasks are the revision of the constitution, the law on Donbas reintegration and the functions of the government.

Bezsmertny is a people's deputy of Ukraine of four convocations. From 1997 to 2002, he served as the permanent representative of President Leonid Kuchma in the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine. In 2005, he worked as Ukraine's deputy prime minister for administrative and territorial reform. In 2007-2008, he was deputy head of the secretariat of the Ukrainian president. From February 2010 to June 2011, he held the post of Ukraine's ambassador to Belarus.

Before April 2016, he was Ukraine's representative in the political subgroup of the Trilateral Contact Group for the peaceful settlement of the situation in eastern Ukraine.
