Kyiv counts on support of Ukraine's position in Ukraine-EU summit on July 9 – Poroshenko after meeting with Bulgarian PM

Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko and Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borisov during the negotiations in Kyiv on Saturday discussed stepping up cooperation between the two countries.

"Today during the talks a wide range of issues were discussed which could improve and deepen cooperation between the two countries," Poroshenko told reporters in Kyiv on Saturday after the negotiations with the Bulgarian prime minister.

He also said that the country is counting on "the support of Ukraine's position and the demonstration of further development of relations between Ukraine and the European Union, including at the Ukraine-EU Summit on July 9 this year."

In addition, Poroshenko said that Bulgaria has a firm and consistent position in support of sovereignty of Ukraine.

"I want to thank Mr. Prime Minister for a firm and consistent position in support of sovereignty, territorial integrity and independence of Ukraine. We felt it from the very first days of Russian aggression. And the principled position of Bulgaria, including within the Council of the European Union when deciding on sanctions for the non-fulfillment of the Minsk agreements by the Russian Federation is extremely important for us," the head of state said.
